Awesome I use it at least twice a week very helpful.

With the myriad of steels out there, this app is very useful resource for pulling up compositions quickly.
Heard about this app on The Truth About Knives. I wasnt sure if it would be any good, but I was taken aback by it. With the dizzying array of steels used in knives today, it is difficult to keep up with many of them. Most knife knuts know the basic 440c, d2, s35n, s30v, etc, but when you start getting into all the Chinese manufactured steels all the Crs and MoVs begin to run together. Fear not! Just pull up this app and search the name. Most have a very informative blurb about the general characteristics of the steel. If you want to dig deeper, you can look at atomic or percentage composition. Overall an indispensable app to have if you buy knives. Would recommend.
A solid database with a brief description if every steel Ive come across. There isnt really much else you could ask for
Perfect app for any one interested about knife blades & what theyre made of also has a comparison chart that allows the user to do side by sides with multiple types simultaneously. A must have for the up & coming. Thanks.
I originally got this app just because, but I find myself using it more and more often. It is very intuitive, has an extremely extensive database and has no adds or special features you had to buy (at least that I could find). Anyway, great app and I would recommend it.
It is great if you want to know what your knives are made of. I even use it for what steels are best.
Very detailed. Every steel you could ever want to know about.
This is a very informative app with detail on every steel available it seems. Very helpful to cross reference similar steels that go by different names. One feature I would like to see is a second comparison chart for the general characteristics of corrosion resistance, edge retention, and sharpenability. For those of us who dont understand what you get from different alloy contents this would be very helpful.
Im a new knife maker and I find this app extremely helpful when it comes to getting steel for my knives. Highly recommend it to new and experienced makers.
I very very rarely write a review for anything unless it exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. Good news! Its exceptionally good this time. This app is wonderful in the aspect that it gives detailed info for a knife junkie, and some background as to the use/manufacturer of the steel. As other reviews have stated, a rating/graph system of blade characteristics for comparison purposes would be a great addition. This would help a consumer greatly. I see that it allows you to compare different make-ups of steel by components and molar/atomic makeups, however to the layman that really doesnt help much. Still, very solid app, worth 5/5 I believe.
Very useful app!
This app is very good if you are trying to find out what a knife steel is made of and how it is expected to perform.
I was looking for information about knife metals and blacksmithing steel. Who knew it would be a great reference for both!! Great job
For those of us who are knife nuts and interested in what makes one blade steel different from another, this app is a must have. What makes s35vn different/better than s30v? Look it up here with everything you need to know in text and chart form. Learn how specific elements influence qualities of steel that ultimately determine the usability of a knife. For the "bladeaholic" this app is an everyday user.
When I am browsing through knives, I always have this app open to reference the steel used for the blades. Top brands have a range of prices in their product lines and by referencing this app you know if what you are buying is worth it. Steel is just one aspect when purchasing a knife, but it is also the most important when comparing similar styles.
Many reviewers speak of knife steel. Which it helps wonderfully. But it also speaks to most all working steels. Very in depth data base. As I too am a knife obsessor I would just like to see a little more in depth on the common 20 or so steels in todays knife market. Honestly its the knife knuts that are the ones using this app. Either way this is a MUST have app if you are into such silly things.
If you like knives and want to know what is in the steel, this is for you.
As a retired machinist & life-long knife junkie, this app provides plenty of useful info when Im knife shopping. Not sure how they make money on a free app but it would be worth a buck or three to me...
Absolutely fantastic. I have yet to find a steel missing from this database, but if i do, Im sure there would already be an update i have yet to apply that doesnt cover it. Better than any other source out there!
